Constipation Options

Additional favorite remedies include:

Flax pudding:
Soak 2 tablespoons of flax seeds overnight in water;
in the morning, add an equal amount of yogurt (or Cool Whip, in the original recipe) and dried fruit (apricots, prunes, etc.) and mix in the blender. (Can make up for several days and keep in the fridge)

Magnesium:
Use magnesium malate or citrate or oxide. Start with 1-2 capsules per day or with 1 tsp per day of liquid magnesium citrate and gradually increase the dose to the maximum dose tolerated without diarrhea or until symptoms are relieved.
Generally do not exceed 320 mg per day of "elemental magnesium." Do not use this if there are problems with your kidney function.
