Organic Foods

Most of our patients have limited food budgets, but we know that organic foods can make a difference for the health of kids and adults, as well as for the health of the planet.

For patients who can afford to buy some organic foods:
Animal products tend to be the most heavily contaminated, due to biomagnification. Those are the first priority for buying organic.
Next, consider using the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 food lists from the Environmental Working Group to guide your choices.

For patients who cannot afford to buy organic:
Eating lower on the food chain will lower your body burden of toxins. Vegetarians have lower levels of many organic pollutants than omnivores.
