IM4US Interim Project Director Job Description
6-12 month interim position
Compensation: $70-85K FTE annually, commensurate with experience and total hours. Health benefits and paid sick time provided.

Integrative Medicine for the Underserved seeks a temporary project director to support the development of our organization’s next chapter. This person will join our existing staff person, the Director of Membership and Education. The Interim Project Director (PD) will assume primary responsibility for the remote oversight and execution of operations, fiscal management, and strategy of the organization to realize promotion of health equity through integrative health care.
The PD will strengthen and oversee the infrastructure necessary to execute the mission and vision of IM4US. They will work closely with the IM4US Director of Membership and Education to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with the organization’s partners, funders, board and members. The PD will virtually oversee day-to-day operations; fundraise and manage organizational finances; supervise staff and contractors; liaise with our fiscal sponsor’s Advisors and Management Team; oversee organizational growth and program implementation; and represent IM4US in a variety of settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement existing strategic priorities, including expanding programming (e.g. Community Whole Centers Initiative)
Supervise any future staff, contractors or consultants
Develop organizational workflows and processes
Develop organizational structure and strengthen partnerships, in collaboration with board
Develop and implement fundraising plan
Respond to grant writing opportunities to secure grants
Lead fundraising efforts from individuals, public organizations, foundations, etc.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders with support from the Board of Directors and Advisory Board.
Set goals for financial growth and sustainability aligned with organizational priorities
Manage organizational finances in collaboration with fiscal sponsor
Prepare annual budget and monthly financial reports
Handle invoices, refunds, and other organizational finances
Identify potential new board members
Participate in board engagement
Assist in development of agendas and Board reports for Board meetings
Communicate Board decisions with staff and membership
Co-pilot organization with Board leadership
Support in-person and/or virtual conference planning & implementation with Director of Membership and Education
Communication and Social Marketing
Manage communications activities including newsletter, social media, website
With Director of Education and Membership, support committees of IM4US members in developing and meeting objectives aligned with organizational mission
Reporting and Engagement
Report to board on a monthly basis on plans, progress, and to request approvals
Support development and implementation of member engagement programs (e.g. mentoring programs)
Demonstrated experience of at least 7 years promoting health in underserved populations through clinical care, public health, advocacy or other non-profit experience
Demonstrated understanding of Integrative Healthcare field
Project management experience
Experience managing grants and organizational budgets
Demonstrated portfolio of fundraising success including grant writing and individual donor outreach
Experience working with diverse communities including healthcare workers
Demonstrated professional skill and/or lived experience addressing racial and health equity, conflict resolution
Preferred Experience and Education
Master’s degree in management, non-profit administration, public health, social work, or other field relevant to Integrative Health, and/or Certified Association Executive credential
Previous director-level non-profit experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of finance, marketing and/or small business management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated skills in organizational development, marketing, strategic leadership skills
Fundraising including grant writing and individual donor outreach
Strong written and verbal communications skills in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Salesforce, Netsuite and Wild Apricot preferred
Excellent communication and facilitation skills including ability to communicate complex professional and advocacy issues
Fluency in Spanish or another language preferred
The position will report to the IM4US Board of Directors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Employee must have the ability to attend meetings, sit and operate a telephone and computer up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. A personal vehicle or public transportation may be utilized. Will work virtually from home office space with occasional travel to represent IM4US at conferences or conduct fundraising activities.
